Collection Policy

Due to the importance of collecting what is relevant to Scribner’s Mill and the Homestead, it will be the policy of Scribner’s Mill Preservation, Inc. to collect or receive items as gifts that tells the story of the early sawmill industry, relates directly to the equipment that may have been utilized at the mill during its operating period, or adds to the story of its history. If a similar or identical item is offered, the one in best condition will be retained unless it relates directly to the Barrows or Scribner family.

Art work, documents, pictures, or ledgers will be accepted only if the item directly relates to its history, the families who owned or of those who worked at the mill.

At the discretion of the Board and with a majority vote, any item of interest that may have been previously accepted or offered, may be either sold, offered to another appropriate historic facility/site, given away, or disposed of.
